The Philip Lynott Exhibition, the biggest ever collection of memorabilia, song lyrics, exhibits, paintings, tributes and photographs of the late rock legend, was seen by thousands from Ireland and abroad in a very special exhibition in the capital. The initiative is supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture and Sport, the Dublin UNESCO City of Literature, Dublin City Council, Dublin Tourism and RTE 2fm.

THE PHILIP LYNOTT EXHIBITION EXTENDS ITS RUN DUE TO PHENOMENAL PUBLIC DEMAND – 2011

Rock enthusiasts, music fans, tourists, schools and families have all flocked to the critically acclaimed exhibition to honour Philip Lynott. Still In Love With You: The Philip Lynott Exhibition opened its doors to rave reviews from the media and public alike (see quotes below), with many visitors coming to Dublin specially to relive the magical and momentous times in the life of Ireland’s iconic rock legend. Now, due to popular demand, The Philip Lynott Exhibition is extending its run by a further 4 weeks.

2011 marks the 25th anniversary of the death of the Thin Lizzy singer and the exhibition gives a unique insight into the background, work and life of Ireland’s pioneering rock star. The Philip Lynott Exhibition brings visitors on an amazing journey telling the unique story of Philip Lynott, and the Creative Space at the top of Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre which was custom built and took 3 months to construct plays host to the exhibition.

The exhibition is home to the biggest ever collection of memorabilia, song lyrics, exhibits, paintings, tributes and photographs of the late rock legend. Presented by Hot Press, the initiative is supported by The Department of Tourism, Culture and Sport, the Dublin UNESCO City of Literature, Dublin City Council, Dublin City BID, Dublin Tourism, Jameson, The Irish Daily Star and RTE2fm, and has already been seen by thousands from Ireland and abroad.

Along with guitars, basses and other equipment used by Philip Lynott, there are also tour jackets worn by the singer, flight cases used by Thin Lizzy, lyric books, tour ledgers and receipts, school reports and Lynott’s shares in Manchester United Football Club on display as well as personal letters, cards and other unique items collected by his mother Philomena and numerous other friends and colleagues over the years. It also feature a huge amount of new material from the Hot Press archives, as well as additional photographs, original paintings and other exclusive artwork. There are also video installations and other audio-visual material, including interviews with Bono, Imelda May, Joe Elliot and many more.

A huge amount of material relating to Ireland’s most romantic rock hero has been uncovered from the archives, to form a must-see exhibition, which has attracted visitors in their droves from Ireland and internationally. The exhibition has already attracted visitors from the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Serbia, Japan, Brazil, Argentina, the USA, Canada and many more countries around the world, as well as from all over the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

In what is a remarkable reflection of the renewed interest in Philip Lynott and his background, the newly updated My Boy by Philomena Lynott has been selling exceptionally well, holding down the No.2 spot in the Non Fiction Paperback best-sellers in Ireland for the past three weeks. In it, Philomena Lynott, for the first time, tells the astonishing story of Philip’s sister Jeanette and his brother Leslie, who were given up for adoption in the early 1950s.

A new Thin Lizzy Greatest Hits album was released on April 4th.
